Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting went to monitor the Miri Visitor Information centre which will get a new look with landscaping and upgrading the area.

The first phase was RM250,000 and both were under Ting’s rural transformation program (RTP) allocations.

Tourism, said Ting, is a pillar for people to come in and bring economy to us Sarawak especially Miri. We have World heritage site, Mulu caves and a lot of natural places of interest.

He said the project was supposed to end last year and extended to Feb this year but due to the weather the contractor asked for another extension.

Ting hoped that work can be completed soon as the opening ceremony of the building will be launched by Sarawak Tourism minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
