MPP issues notice on enforcement of “The local Authorities (Advertisement) by law 2012

Padawan Municipal Council Chairman, Cr. Tan Kai urged the public, particularly business entities and advertisers on the council’s current operations to regulate and enforce “The Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-laws, 2012”.

He said Padawan Municipal Council has observed a significant increase in the number of excessive advertisement signage and billboard throughout our municipality.

“These excessive advertisements not only deteriorate the visual aesthetics of our community but also pose potential safety hazards and environmental concerns. To address this issue and ensure the well-being of our community, the Padawan Municipal Council has taken proactive measures. Notices have already been issued to targeted commercial premises with excessive advertisement signage, urging them to comply with “The Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-laws, 2012” and apply for the required advertisement license. The Council emphasizes that compliance with these regulations is mandatory for all businesses operating within the municipality, “he said.

Padawan Municipal Council hereby reminded all targeted commercial premises who failure to comply with the by-laws within the stipulated timeframe will result in the issuance of compounds. These compounds serve to encourage timely adherence to the regulations and underline the council’s commitment in having an appealing environment for our residents and visitors.

He added that the Padawan Municipal Council takes this opportunity to advise all new advertisers to engage in due diligence and apply for the necessary advertisement license before erecting any billboards or engaging in advertising activities within the municipality.

By doing so, he said businesses can avoid unnecessary legal complications and contribute to the overall enhancement of our community’s appearance.

He said the MPP firmly believed that the regulation and enforcement of “The Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-laws, 2012” will not only improve the visual landscape but also create a safer and more attractive environment for everyone.

For further information or assistance regarding advertisement regulations and licensing procedures, he asked concerned parties are encouraged to contact the Padawan Municipal Council’s Licensing Section at Health & Municipal Services Division. We appreciate the cooperation and support of the business community and the public as we work together to create a more vibrant, visually appealing and safe Padawan Municipality.
