Dr Sim – advice to children on technology
Senator Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian advised young children not to be glued to the their hand phones or the internet but to see more of the world outside and spend time with their families.
Speaking at the coloring contest yesterday morning at Pending branch, Sim told the 200 plus youngsters that the coloring contest is one of the good way of mingling with the others while at the same time they could spend time with their parents on weekends.
He said children these days are so engrossed in their internet games and mobile phones that they forget to interact with each other and the coloring contest is one good way to draw them out.
Asking those who did not make it to win, Sim offered the wisdom that at times, it is the experience of participation that counts. There is always a time, if you continue to persist in what you enjoyed to be doing, you will make it. He said competing in a contest is not all about winning or losing but a life lesson too.
The contest was organised by the Pending branch. On hand to give out the prizes were Sim and SUPP Youth, Tan Kai.
