Dr Sim Kui Hian advises on applications of SOP in family gatherings
With Sarawak opening up under Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan, Local government and Housing Minister, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian said there will be more visitation and movement among families and friends.
The Sarawak general hospital (SGH) COVID19 Response Team has prepared important information on “new social norms” – how can we gather with family and friends in a safer environment and how to go back to work in a safe way, and not bring the virus home.
He advised family members not to forget the elderly in the house and ensure that the group small, keep a guest list and guests may test themselves with self-test kit before the gathering.
It is important, he added, not to accept any guest who is unwell, regardless how mild the illness and they need to do a COVID-19 swab test right away.
Dr. Sim added that everywhere, they must wear mask at all times and if possible, to meet at an outdoor venue instead of indoor. If they have to meet indoor, they should keep the gathering short and the area ventaliated.
He said the same rules applied to those meeting for work and it is better for them to ensure that during office meetings, there is no eating or drinking in a well-ventilated room with windows open all and preferable to use ceiling fan rather than air-condidtion.
After the gathering or meeting, it is important to ensure that the place is sanitised .
