New covid facility to separate positive and non positive patients

Local government and Housing Minister, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian thanked Mercy Malaysia for sponsoring the Field Hospital’s COVID19 A&E facility to enable better separation of COVID19 patients & non COVID19 patients in Sarawak general hospital.

He said this much improved facility with bigger capacity, normally 3 zones, oxygen support, up to 60 patients is better, rather than just using the “corridor outside” (air flow ventilation) of A&E block of sarawak general hospital.

Dr. Sim said Sarawak Government will help Ministry of State Health department and the hospital to equip them with for essential basic medical equipment funding if needed.

He is amazed by the innovation of the Field Hospital’s COVID19 A&E which was set up by the local contractors who normally set up tents for events (putting their expert skills which have been “dormant” into new & good use. This partially explains ready in record time of 6 days though it is a medical facility). In Sarawak, we just do it and not talk too much, he added.
