Home quarantine for mild covid 19 cases
Some covid 19 positive cases under Category 1 and 2 may be quarantined at home where they are subjected to monitoring & treatment to strict JKNS terms and conditions, said Local Government and Housing Minister, Dato’ Sri Dr. Sim Kui Hian.
Dr. Sim said for those home quarantined, it is an offence to go out of the house although they may feel well so that positive individuals will not pass the virus to others.
This, he added, included not meeting family members, and the positive individual has to eat alone and wear masks at all times.
He advised that the individual must be well hydrated (average we need ~3 litre per day and check the temperature four to six per day. If there is a fever of 38.5, they should take panadol. Besides, he said they have to check oxygen saturation four to six times per day and if the reading is 95%, call the hospital contact numbers given. Lying prone (sleeping on stomach) helps with oxygen saturation.
Dr. Sim, who is the advisor to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said despite the presence of Delta variant, it is reassuring because of the high vaccination rate in Sarawak. There are 99% cases Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms) and 99.9% positive cases will recover.
