Sebastian Ting looking at RTP in schools
State Assemblyman for Piasau, Datuk Sebastian Ting said he is happy that the Rural Transformation project funds has been well spent for the Miri people in his constituency which included schools, drainage system and special projects.
Ting went to SM Sains and SMK Lutong this morning to see the last of the fund allocated this year for the two schools and also Masjid Luak for upgrading works there.
He said at SM Sains, they had three projects that were constructed with RM150,000. It was to construct a concrete shoe rack, a luggage room and an utensil room. Ting said the old blocks for keeping these items were wooden ones and infested with termites, thus it is a timely project for the boarding school students to have such facilities. The school has five blocks, three for boys and two blocks for girls.
At SMK Lutong, Ting said the school wanted to upgrade the hall and running track. The running track cost RM200,000 which was not enough. Thus the fund was used to repair the leaking roof and spoilt ceilings.
Ting believed that the projects will be completed by end of this year and for next year, it will be a fresh start for them all.
Accompanying Ting yesterday were heads of kampungs and engineer from JKR.
