Milton Foo, DAP remains unapologetic

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has refused to apologize to fellow Sarawkians for the act of Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in dishonouring the promise to amend the Federal Constitution in restoring the status of Sabah and Sarawak as partners in the Federation, as provided in MA63, said SUPP Central youth, Secretary.

He said DAP has numerously promised and pledged to fellow Sarawkians that once PH attained majority and assumed power as the Federal Government, they will restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak as partners in the Federation, as provided in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). However, such promise has been met with vague propositions as to not include the words “pursuant to the MA63” in the Amendment Bill.

“It is crystal clear that the PH government has tactically deceived the people of Sabah and Sarawak in proposing an amendment Bill of the Federal Constitution that has no effect in restoring the status of Sarawak as a Federation in Malaysia. Without the inclusion of the words “pursuant to the MA63” in the proposed amendment Bill, it reflects the insincerity of the PH government in acknowledging the status of Sabah and Sarawak as a Federation in the formation of Malaysia. Such stunt put forth by the PH Government is a reanimation of “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” he added.

Hans Christian Andersen has curated the “The Emperor’s New Clothes” to address the constant human desire in attaining power and wealth regardless of the truth.  Here, he said the Emperor was blinded by his pride and vanity into swallowing the lies uttered by the two con men into believing that the clothes will only be visible in the eyes of great and good and invisible to those whom are stupid and unworthy of their position in society. Despite the Emperor knowing that the clothes were not made and all of such were a mere bluff, he chose to conceal the truth of his own eyes and admitted the lies in front in fear of acknowledging his own incompetence. The lies were then exposed by a child that said the Emperor was not wearing any clothes.

Milton Foo stated that, Members of Parliament (MP) of PH has submitted [Proposed 2019 amendment to the Constitution of Malaysia] last year whereby they claimed amendment to Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution marks a historical significance in restoration of Sabah and Sarawak’s status Sabah and Sarawak as a Federation in the formation of Malaysia and acknowledging Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners in Malaysia.

“Such proposition by the PH government was indeed a reanimation of The Emperor’s New Clothes.  PH government as well as DAP MPs have continued to compromise the promise of restoration of Sarawak’s status as a Federation of Malaysia with the heavily flawed amendment bill in hopes that Sarawkians would accept such compromised promise like how the Emperor accepted the cloud of lies.

We must understand that the inclusion of the words “pursuant to MA63” is imminently crucial as such will reflect the intention of MA63 in honouring the rights of Sabah and Sarawak as a Federation in the formation of Malaysia. However, such proposition was neglected and met with disagreement of PH government under the leadership of Dr Mahathir.

It is understandable that the co-existence of Article 1 (2) and Article 160(2) of the Federal Constitution are indeed a contrary to one another, ” he pointed out.

He stated that the stance of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is that the amendment towards the Federal Constitution must be in line with MA 63. However, the contents nor the wordings of MA63 can be seen or written in the Federal Constitution.

Article 1(2) and Article 160(2) of the Federal Constitution must be amended in co-existence as the wordings did not refer to MA63 in full restoration of the rights of Sabah and Sarawak as a Federation of Malaysia.  The words “pursuant to the Malaysia Agreement 1963” must be included in the amended Article 1(2) and that the interpretation under Article 160(2) must refer to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), not the Federation of Malaya Agreement 1957. For if Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution is amended without any amendment made to Article 160 of the Federal Constitution, such amendment will be heavily flawed as it will not restore the status of Sarawak as a Federation of Malaysia in accordance with MA63.

Hence,  Foo said, the constitutional amendment proposed by the PH government was nothing but a mere bluff to trap fellow Sarawakians.
