SUPP Central Committee visiting Bengoh branch

Party President, Tan Sri Peter Chin called to Bengoh branch members not to lose faith following a few deserters who left the party but instead should all unite to join force to strengthen the party to greater heights.

Chin who was with the central committee to visit Bengoh branch recently and to have a dialogue with them, nominated Deputy Bengoh branch Chairman, Councillor Bong Ngim Swee, as the Bengoh Chairman.

Four SUPP State assemblymen led by Former Sibu SUPP Chairman, Wong Soon Koh jumped ship on May 15 with Ranum Mina (Opar), Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil (Bengoh) and Jonical Rayong (Engkilili) jumped ship to join Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (TERAS).

Chin said when the Registrar of Society (ROS) accepted the party’s explanation not to de-register the party on April 30, he said it was a joyful news for all party members, but instead a few decided to jump ship.

He explained that the party is not made up of the few person who had jumped ship but it was all the members who made what the party is.

Asking the members to stay firm and loyal to the party, he said there is no way will Teras be able to join Barisan Nasional as they would fight all the way to prevent them from joining. He is confident that they will not be able to join as there are other coalition parties in Sarawak who are also against Teras joining as BN partner.

Chin said no matter what they said, Bengoh which was headed by Jerip before, would remain with SUPP in the next election. He said they would have their own candidate for Bengoh.

He also apologized for not being with the Bengoh members earlier on as Jerip would come up with all sort of excuses when he wanted to go to Bengoh.

Earlier on Councillor Bong said Jerip had said in the media that 90 percent of the Bengoh branch members had jumped ship. He said Jerip was lying as only a handful left with him. Of all the four branches, Siniawan, Braang, Siburan and Bengoh, Bong said the majority of the party members are still staying put with SUPP and not deserting as alleged by Jerip.

Bong said in the next election, he hoped that the party central would respect the Bengoh branch decision in selecting a candidate.

A total of 80 members joined the dinner.
