Working visit to Tamu Muhibbah Miri
Piasau State Assemblyman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting and Miri Mayor Adam Yii visited the Tamu Muhibbah Miri yesterday after receiving several requests from the hawkers there.
Ting said the hawkers hoped that another public toilet will be constructed at the back of the wet market instead of the present one which is quite a distance away.
The hawkers said most of the time, they work alone and it was not convenient to leave the stall alone for a long period to go to the toilet. Besides, they said, due to the increased number of people, they have to queue up at the toilet.
Ting said he understood the problem faced and the council would look into it immediately.
Besides the toilet issue, the hawkers also requested for extra lightings in the market, proper water piping to prevent water leakage and extra bins to prevent overflow of rubbish.
Ting assured them that they will entertain on the urgent needs and he also believed that hygiene is an important aspect in the market especially where food is concerned.
