JKKKs urged to set up education funds for their children
All village development and security committees (JKKKs) have been urged to set up education funds for their children.
Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said such fund could help children who are living in longhouses to further their studies at institutions of higher learning after having completed their secondary school education.
He added that it is important for our future and education is the only way that we can bring development to our village. This fund represents an investment for us and it will benefit those who use the money to further their studies,” he said when officiating at a ‘Mantar Gawai Dayak’ ceremony here recently. Parents, he said, played an open role in educating the children.
This would ensure that they would not be left behind once the country achieves the developed nation status in 2020.
