Singing contest celebrating Lunar New Year
In conjunction with the Lunar New Year celebration, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central will organise a Singing Contest on 21st January 2017 (Saturday) at the Riverside Shopping Complex at 11.00 am, said Assistant Secretary of Pending Branch, Youth Section, Byron Chang.
Chang said the contest is sponsored by the Riverside Shopping Complex and it is opened to all Malaysians aged 17 years old and below and so far 23 persons has signed up for it.
He said the contestants are free to choose any song and must bring their own CD (minus one) during the competition. There will be 3 judges for the contest and their decision is final.
“All the contestants will receive prizes, including trophies for the top singers. There will be lucky draw of movie tickets for audience as well.This is a family event for family to have a good time while doing their last minute shopping and an avenue for all Sarawakian irregardless of race, to come together enjoying the festive holiday atmosphere. It is an open event so the public is encouraged to join and give support to our young local talents,” he added.
Meanwhile, SUPP Pending Women Section and SUPP Batu Lintang Women Section are organizing the Little Miss Cheongsam Contest on 22nd January 2017 (Sunday) at 12 noon. The contest is sponsored by Sarawak Plaza together with Riverside Shopping Complex and it is open to girls aged 7 to 12 years old.
Organising Secretary of Pending Branch Woamn Section, Cr. Kho Teck Wan said the contestants will be split into 2 categories with category A for girl aged between 7 to 9 years old and category B for girl aged between 10 to 12 years old. There will also be a Miss Popular category where the result will be based on votes by the audience during the contest.
Contestant in category A will be judged based on their appearance, modeling style and stage interview where the contestant will be asked 2 or 3 simple interview questions. Contestant in category B will be judged based on their appearance, modeling style and stage performance.
Among the prizes for the winners of Little Miss Cheongsam are sash and tiara and there will also be lucky draw of movie tickets for the audience as well.
