Encouraging couples to have children
Chinese community-based organisations (CBOs) made a call to offer incentives for young couples to have more children.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said that such a move could help boost the population of the Chinese in Malaysia after having noted a drop in birth rate in the community and many more are choosing to remain single.
Lo also said that that the majority of young Chinese couples had decided to have only one child or two at the most – some even opted to not having any.
