Aligning Councils’ 2017/18 focus with the State Government Transformation Program.
A total of 120 Senior official comprising mayor, chairman, councillors and councils’ officers participated in a one day workshop at Pullman Hotel Kuching on 17 December 2016.
The workshop was officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian Minister for Local Government Sarawak.
The main objective of the workshop is to align the Councils’ 2017/18 focus with the State Government Transformation Program. Seven key result areas have been identified for the period 2017/18. The seven (7) areas that have been given special emphasis in the said workshop. They are mitigating the occurrence of flash flood; developing “Green & Clean” markets; creating business opportunities; safe and well- maintained roads; enhancing public confidence in PTB services through Local Help Services; “Clean & Hygienic” food outlets; and “Clean & Functional” public toilets.
Strategies have been identified to drive the Local Councils forward. Each strategy focuses on results and outcomes that will benefit the rakyat and the Local Councils.
The members of the public are urged to participate and work hand-in-hand with the Local Councils to achieve the desired results as aspired by the top officials of the Councils and the Ministry. This was disclosed by Bakrie Zaini, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Local Government.
