Dr Sim on diabetes – prevention is better than cure
Minister of Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said the number of diabetic patients has increased and half of them suffer from conditions like high blood pressure.
He said prevention is better than cure and if the disease became worst, it can lead to kidney failure and related conditions,” Dr Sim told the press during a visit to the MRC Kidney Dialysis Centre.
The dialysis centre , he said, is one of the best in the country, owing to good management by the MRC Miri Chapter.
There is a total of 310 patients who have undergone kidney dialysis at the centre with 76 dialysis machines in operation.
During the visit, Dr Sim handed over a cheque for RM10,000 from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) to Datuk Lee Kim Shin who is vice-chairman of the MRC Miri Chapter.
