New CM will help solve SUPP crisis

Party President, Tan Sri Peter Chin firmly believed that the new Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem will assist the party to end the internal conflict which has been plaguing the party since its last Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) in 2011.
Chin who was met at the official swearing in of the new Governor, Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at the State Legislative Assembly complex on Saturday, said the new CM has indicated that he wanted to meet him (Chin) and do what is best for the party.
Chin said SUPP is part of the Barisan Nasional party and he believed that under the leadership of Adenan, who is well known for his experience and a veteran politician, the party will flourish better in future.
The party crisis since TDC in December 2011 started with Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh, the Sibu SUPP Chairman who boycotted the conference. It deepened as there were words of war on and off, mostly from Wong’s camp.
Due to the party’s internal conflicts, Wong’s group had filed complaints to the Registrar of Society (ROS) causing Bekenu and Piasau branches to be de-registered. Both branches had since then sent appeal letters to the ROS.
Chin said as a party leader, he too wanted to ensure that such crisis would end and he hoped that in this election year of the TDC, all party leaders and members would be more resolute to fight against the Opposition in the next election.
