Kho asks Finance Minister to focus on trade initiatives

许德婉促请希盟停止向人民施于压迫手段
砂拉越人民联合党中央妇女组主席许德婉促请希盟政府，即刻停止对人民进行各种压迫手段，避免加剧人民生活困苦。 她发表文告说，希盟政府精英顾问团主席敦达因曾指出，造成近月来马币大跌，人民生活困苦因素是财政部属下内陆税收局向民众发出800万封通知信所致。由于税收局属于财政部，因此财政部长林冠英必须对这种情况作出解释和交代，税收局发出这么庞大的信件，是否获得财政部的指示。 她强调，希盟政府执政迄今，不仅实施多项令人难以负担的新税务包括离境税、汽水税和数码税等，现在还通过各种手段“追税”，以致人民不敢消费。 许德婉表示，政府没有兑现竞选承诺中的降低油价、给民众一年2000令吉和取消大道收费等，现在百物价格更高居不下，人民生活中水深火热中。政府不但没减轻人民生活负担，还频频对商家“下手”，包括地方政府刚发出的新指令，规定商场建筑物外的广告牌，甚至是商场内的商店指示牌，只要有商标就要征收执照费。 她认为此举不仅加重商家的经济负担，同时有关的收费最终也会转嫁到消费者身上。 因此，人联党促请希盟政府，应该拟定有效政策，以减轻人民生活困难，而不是制定如何向人民下手的政策。
