A round of good news from the CM

Secretary General of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Dato’ Sebastian Ting expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who has listened to the voice of Sarawakians.

Ting said on May 22, SUPP had issued a statement appealing to the Chief Minister to waive the 6% Goods and Service Tax (GST) for all State government body to ease the plight of the people who were feeling the strain after the GST implementation started in April this year.

In Sibu on Sunday at a ceremony to abolish the toll collection of the Lanang bridge, Adenan announced the waiver of GST for local authorities and government services in the State. He said the move was part of the government efforts to lighten the burden of the people in the state and would pay the GST to the Federal government.

“This is indeed a good news for the people who has been struggling, especially the lower income group.  The Chief Minister always has the heart for the people in time of needs and has done whatever possible to lessen the hardship of the people. Even the abolishment of the Lanang bridge toll which commenced on Sunday will benefit the people living around there,”he added.

Ting who attended the simple ceremony with SUPP members from the five Branches and other Central Working Committee members, said the abolition of the toll at Lanang bridge could help the people to save a few thousands per year especially those who had no choice but to commute daily along the route. The next good news, he added, would be the Asean bridge toll charges which would be abolished on June 1 this year.

Saying that it was a great day for such news as the Dayaks would be celebrating their Gawai festival, Ting said Mirians of all races treated the piece of news as a gift when it was announced recently. He said everyone was looking forward to that day.

Asking all Sarawakians to rally behind the Chief minister, Ting pointed out that he is indeed a CM for the people who proved that he is Walking the Talk.

The CM speech, Ting pointed out, was as usual casual, friendly, warm and sincere from the heart, without a prepared text. He said the people were seen with their smiles and a sense of happiness, clapping and waving our Sarawak and Malaysia flags.

After the ceremony Ting spoke to quite a few people and all of them agreed and said, “He is the Best Chief Minister and we shall give him our support for another term to continue as Chief Minister of Sarawak.”

Ting added that the Chief Minister really knows the hardship of our people and is truly with the people. He has the people at heart and has them in his mind.

The next good news for the people will be the abolition of Toll charges at the Asean Bridge, commencing on 1st June 2015.
