Don’t play dirty, Lo Khere Chiang tells his opponents

Candidate GPS/SUPP Batu Kitang, Lo Khere Chiang expressed his disappointment with his supposedly opponent for playing dirty smear campaign politics.

“It has come to my notice that my opponent cut and edited video clips from my Facebook account to deliberately twist and distort the truth of what I really said and meant. This is really hitting below the belt and I am saddened that such tactics are now being used. I have always believed that in an election, we “fight” like gentlemen and not use smear tactics to do so I am absolutely appalled and disgusted at how low my opponents are willing to stoop just to gain some political mileage.“

Lo pointed out that young people in Malaysia are being victimised everyday with mean things and fun poked at them by cyber bullies. Is telling untruths, launching personal attacks and making fun of others online an example of what my opponents are setting for our young people?

Lo said he wished to make his facts clear. “As I have said, we have both poor and rich people all over Sarawak and even in West Malaysia. When I spoke about rural people being rich, I mean the rural people probably live worry free spiritually happy lives whereby they mostly own their own land and are self-sufficient. Wealth is sometimes not of the pocket but of the heart and mind. This is a positive living style and even to this day, we have people who retire moving back to the rural areas to have cleaner air and a more peaceful life. Is my opponent mocking the rural people? We must respect how each individual wants to live his or her life, ” he added.

Lo said for the poor rural people who need his help, the GPS government has never failed them. Even in the outskirts of Batu Kitang area, we build infrastructure, community halls, carry out repair work on schools and build sports facilities through Rural Transformation Programmes. For those who need to repair their houses, the government has a scheme to help them. They are never neglected. My track records have shown how for the past five years, I have consistently gone to my constituency to assist the people who need us.

When the edited video claimed that what he said “we can never be independent, that was another blatant downright lie by my opponent. I was telling my audiences that we may not gain independence now but it does not mean that in future, we cannot achieve that. We have to demand for our rights under MA 63 via legal avenues and justice. But first, we need to be rich, we need to be financially sound and independent. Once we are financially strong, naturally we shall be politically strong. That’s when we demand for our rights via a legal process. All this while, the GPS government has been trying its best to get more autonomy through legal means. We walk the walk and talk the talk and we want to inform the public, not mislead them into thinking that Sarawak independence is a sure thing once this election is won, ” he said.

Our GPS president,Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, he added, has put in a lot of effort for development to uplift the lives of Sarawakians. He has spoken of his desire to win all 82 seats. Yes, if we can win the majority of the seats in this State election, we are on the way to see a formidable Sarawak, more developments and prosperity in every corner of Sarawak.

By being politically strong, by being rich after gaining our financial independence and a strong DUN, nothing will be impossible for Sarawakians.

Lo said we can make more demands on our rights as Sarawakians under MA 63. The recent achievement by our minister for sarawak, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jafaar is proof in the pudding. Sarawak voices have been heard and the Dewan Rakyat in Malaya have finally agreed to return the status of sarawak all in line with MA 63 like what we have always insisted. So I appeal to you all, give GPS a strong mandate to build a stronger sarawak. We, in GPS, will do the rest.

“Let me remind all that we should never be like Sabah. In Sabah today, 41 out of 79 seats belongs to Malayan parties. For any important decision regarding Sabah, the Sabahans have to go back to their political masters in West Malaysia to make a decision. Vote for GPS so that we, in GPS, a party run by Sarawakians can make decisions for all of us in Sarawak. Only us Sarawakians have the heart and soul to truly take care of Sarawak.Let us not forget the 22months of PH rule. Our local based semenanjung parties had to kow tow to their Malayan masters and they have failed us, Sarawakians miserably, ” he added.

Thus, he said no matter what happens, GPS will protect the sanctuary of our DUN Sarawak. We must vote for GPS to ensure political strength and harmony among all the different races and religions. We have shown the rest of Malaysia how we, the different races in Sarawak live together as a big family. GPS is the only way to go. Sarawak First! Utamakan Sarawak! Hidup GPS!
