Tan Sri Peter Chin on party unity

SUPP President Tan Sri Peter Chin called to members to stay steadfast together and worked out issues internally instead of airing dirty linen in public if they genuine love the party.

Chin, who was speaking at the Pending branch 30th anniversary dinner cum 55th party anniversary at the DBNA, said SUPP is a party with rules and regulations where members could solve their issues or problems internally.

He said there is no point going to the court which is expensive and showing to the outside world how quarrelsome they are.

Chin pointed out that the party has its Disciplinary committee headed by Datuk William Tayud who is independent as he did not sit in the Central Working committee or the Central committee.

“We have expelled some members who had betrayed the party. We do not need such people to disturb us inside the party. We need to move on and even after the Registrar of Society (ROS) accepted our explanation not to de-register us. But instead there is a group who went out to get the court to review to de-register us; this is is weird. They spoke of loving the party but they wanted to destroy the party by having it de-registered. What sort of love is that, I wondered,” he said.

Asking party members not to be fearful of the court review, Chin said the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem, had asked SUPP to celebrate the 55th anniversary and invited all Barisan Nasional (BN) component leaders. We will have a grand do on August 8 and a number of the component leaders had confirmed coming. “The Chief Minister is always behind us so we should all throw our support to a leader who is very focus and concerned for the Sarawakians,” he said.

Chin said SUPP has gone through the good and bad times and the road ahead is still rocky. But he urged members not to give up hope. He firmly believed that SUPP, as one of the oldest party in Sarawak, still have the energy to continue the fight. “That is why it is so important for us to stand together and fight on,” he added.

During the dinner, Chin gave his speech in Bahasa Malaysia first as there were a great number of non Chinese members in the dinner. Thanking them for their undivided support in this difficult time, Chin said SUPP has always been a multi-racial party and said the party is grateful and appreciative of their staunch support during the difficult times.

He called to all members to work together and build up the party again. “It can be done if we all do our little part,” he added.

“零成本登上国际舞台推介砂拉越,难道不应该感到骄傲吗?”Read More
