The fire victims of Kampung Sungai Apong were disappointed with their elected representative’s style of service as they claimed that the YB concerned would put in an appearance before disappearing.

One of the residents even admitted he had no idea who the elected representative of that area is because he had never seen his/her face.

Eight families were made homeless after the rented houses they lived in went up in smoke on the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

The victims said they were thankful for their Councillor Tan Kai who had been with them since day one their houses were burned down.

Tan Kai who is also SUPP Central Youth Chairman, went back to the site this morning bringing the SUPP Pending branch’s special financial aid which was later handed over to the fire victims.

“Despite SUPP’s defeat in the last General Election and past elections, we have not and will not abandon the people here and we will continue to serve them in any way we can.”

At the same time, Tan Kai said, that he is helping some of the families to look for flat or houses they can rent at a lower rate. “Some are currently staying with nearby friends or relatives, while some have temporarily returned to their hometowns”, he added.
