Dato’ Sebastian to members: remain strong and calm

Former SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch Chairman, Dato’ Sebastian Ting held a press conference this morning at Krokop sub branch to explain to his members the status of the Piasau branch.
Ting said he and the former committee members from Piasau branch were shocked and sadden by the Registrar of Society (ROS) Kuala Lumpur cancellation of the SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch with effect from January 6.
“The most important thing is that I want to take this opportunity to inform all SUPP members of the former SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch that the party Central through Secretary General Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian has confirmed that all their memberships are still valid and are attached directly with SUPP Party Central,” he said.
Calling to all the former members of SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch to remain calm, strong and patience, Ting said he can see that everyone was sadden and disappointed but believed that the members, the people of Miri and comrades are together in this difficult time.
“I, on behalf of former SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch, sincerely apologize to all former SUPP Miri (Piasau) members and the people of Miri for the cancellation of the registration of SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch by the Registrar of Societies Kuala Lumpur,” he added.
He explained that on January 9 2014, SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch was informed by our Party Secretary General Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian that he had received the original letter dated 6th January 2014 issued by the Deputy Registrar of Societies Haji Alias Bin Mamat Kuala Lumpur under the caption “Parti Rakyat Bersatu Sarawak (The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party) (SUPP) Cawangan Miri (Piasau) informing the SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch the decision of the Registrar of Societies, Kuala Lumpur that the reply to the Show Cause letter issued on 6th Jun 2013 to SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch was not accepted and accordingly the Registrar of Societies had decided to cancel the registration of the SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch with effect from 6th January 2014.
Ting said in accordance with Section 18 of the Societies Act 1966, SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch will have within 30 days from the date of decision ie 6th January 2014 to appeal against the decision of the Registrar on the cancellation of the registration of SUPP Miri(Piasau) branch to the Minister of Home Affairs.
SUPP Miri (Piasau) branch shall submit an appeal within the 30 days.
