Dato Sebastian Ting expressed his concern on the well being and the security of the people in Miri following the murder of a second year student from Curtin university last weekend.

Ting condemned the brutal act of the perpetrators and hoped that they would be caught the soonest as members of the public are very concerned and fearful that the murderer(s) are still on the loose.

Sympathising with the family of the deceased, Mu, Ting prayed that they would stay strong in this tiring time and he hoped that justice would be served to a promising young man. The police, he said should go all out to solve the case to put the public’s mind at ease. “The killing would have a negative effect on parents who wished to send their children to school in Miri as a number of people has voiced their concern to me,” he added.

He pointed out that security is one of the main concern of the people and if it is not maintained, it would affect the economy and development of Miri.

Mu was believed to have been beaten to death in a housebreaking incident in Desa Senadin where he rented a room. Mu who has just returned from a semester break, was found lying near the stair. A gas cylinder tank was believed to be stolen.
