SUPP against corruption

Statement by Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, President of SUPP

The Sarawak United People’s Party gives its full support to the Chief Minister of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan bin Haji Satem in his effort and determination to combat the illegal logging activities in the State as a mean to put an end to corruption.

Since the illegal logging activities did  not follow the proper procedures and regulations, the activities had seriously sabotaged the natural resources in the state, resulting in the loss of huge volume of natural resources and gravely affecting the economic growth of Sarawak.

SUPP is grateful to see that  the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Adenen Satem, had from the days of his appointment, taken  measures  to curb the illegal logging activities and corruptions in the state. He had engaged the cooperation of the  large  logging companies to sign the Integrity Pledge, indicating his determination to implement the integrity policy and the transparency of administration.

SUPP had all along advocated and encouraged the general public  to report with concrete evidence the corrupt activities in Sarawak to the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission to preserve the natural resources of Sarawak and to ensure the economic growth of the state.

The Oppositions, especially the DAP had all these while barked on the issue of corruption. But they never come forward with concrete evidence to report to the MACC. They are in fact making empty barking.

SUPP has full confidence on the leadership of Adenan Satem. The  party strongly believes that his combat against  corruption and other illegal activities in Sarawak will achieve the desire results and objectives, especially when cabinet ministers would  also have to sign the Integrity Pledge . These actions would no doubt expand and deepen the anti-corruption campaigns.

SUPP hopes that the signing of the Integrity Pledge would be extended to  cover all government departments and organizations, turning it into a comprehensive anti-corruption campaigns.

SUPP wishes to propose and to  call on the government to formulate more rigid laws and regulations with severe punishments on those companies, enforcement officers and individuals who were found involved in corrupt activities.

At the same time,  SUPP hopes that the general public in Sarawak would become the eyes and ears of the anti-corruption campaigns,  giving solid backing to the Chief Minister.
