Prime Minister – Stand by SUPP
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak said he came all the way to be with SUPP to give them his support and assured them that he will be with them as the Barisan Nasional is a party of principle.
The rest, he said is up to SUPP to build up the support.
Officiating at the opening of the SUPP 23rd Delegates Conference of the party at the Dewan Sa’ati at the Party Headquarters here yesterday, Najib said after three years of bickering and three years of infighting, he hoped the new team will bring back the unity much needed for the party to grow and win the election.
“I hope this election signals the end of factionalism within SUPP. And I hope this meeting means that tomorrow when you elect the new leadership of your party, you will unite behind him, I want you to be stronger, ready to fight for Barisan Nasional (BN), ready to make sure that SUPP will contribute to the big victory for Barisan Nasional in the next election,” he stressed.
“You need also to give people a new hope for the future. You must set a next direction for SUPP. You must have a real concrete plan; how you want to serve the people of Sarawak, how you want to solve their problems, how do you want to bring real change for the rakyat and that is the task of the new leadership of SUPP. Me and Tan Sri Adenan – we are here to support you,” he added.
Najib pointed out that the opposition parties are in a real mess. “If you talk about peace, stability and progress, you really think the opposition can ensure peace, stability and progress? Only BN can do that,” he said.
Najib said as chairman of Barisan Nasional he has always stood by SUPP because he believes in the politics of principle, and that nobody is larger and bigger than the interest of the party.
SUPP must continue as a political party, he said. “We don’t de-register the opposition parties . If we want to look for faults, DAP has a lot of faults; PKR is even worse, to the extend of throwing chairs in meeting.
