Chief Minister froze appointment of community leaders with immediate effect
Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Adenan Satem announced the frozen of appointments of community leaders in the Chinese communities.
Speaking at the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) 23rd Triennial Delegates’ Conference at SUPP headquarters here, Adenan said appointments made before this would stay and should there be any new appointment, I would want to know about it,
SUPP President Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui’s spoke of the clashes SUPP had with United People’s Party (UPP), a party former Sibu SUPP Chairman, Dato’ Sri Wong Soon Koh was involved in after he left Teras. Wong had in May joined Teras after he was suspended from SUPP.
Adenan said he did not like to interfere in internal affairs of the component parties but he wanted to see the Chinese community united as those during the heydays of Stephen Yong, Ong Kee Hui, Chan Siaw Hee and other strong Chinese leaders.
He praised SUPP for being a loyal partner of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) since 1970 with the formation of the first stable government in Sarawak and also helping PBB in the Ming Court crisis in 1987. So PBB would stand by SUPP when it is in great difficulty.
Adenan believed that SUPP will rejuvenate and transformed as long as it stayed united and he hoped to see them take on the the opposition Democratic Action Party or DAP with confidences in the coming election.
On Sarawak, he pointed out that there would be no place for extremists who are lunatic. All these while, he said the people in BN are moderate and in Sarawak, everyone live together like a family with diversify cultures, races and religions.
Sarawak is big enough for everybody so do not hurt the Chinese by asking them to go back to China, the Indians to go back to India and the Malays to go back to Indonesia.
Also present at the opening ceremony yesterday afternoon were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang, PRS President, Tan Sri James Masing, Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, President of SPDP, SUPP Honorary President Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan and other leaders of BN.
