SUPP Kuching Branch Organizes Second Night Counter Service on May 15 to Help Students Apply for RM1,200 Assistance

The Kuching Branch of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), upon public demand, will once again organize a Night Counter Service for the People on Thursday, May 15 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, located at Life Cafe @ Jalan Padungan, Kuching.

Wung said the main purpose of this program is to help more students of higher learning institutions who have yet to complete the application process for the RM1,200 Special Living Allowance, in addition to providing various support services to the community.

Previously, he said its first night counter service held on May 8 received overwhelming support and broad support from the public.

Many students, parents and residents attended to obtain information and apply. With the help of volunteers at the location, many applicants successfully completed the assistance application process. In addition, the elderly and the disabled also benefited from various assistance services provided at the scene.

“Given the very positive feedback and some members of the public who were unable to attend due to time constraints, the party decided to organise another night counter session to meet the needs of more applicants who had not had time to complete their application process. The main services offered at this counter include assistance with the application for the RM1,200 Special Living Allowance for IPT students, assistance with the Kenyalang Gold Card application for senior citizens, document verification, advisory services related to social welfare and OKU (Disabled) registration, as well as on-site legal consultation sessions,” he explained.

He added that applicants can prepare the required documents in advance before attending the counter and that includes copies of the applicant’s and parents’ identity cards, student cards or university offer letters, and Sarawak ID accounts. In addition, for parents who are civil servants or have permanent jobs, they need to bring their latest pay slips; for those who run a business, FORM B (income tax) documents must be included; while those who are self-employed or have no regular income must bring an income verification letter signed by the Kapitan.

To facilitate applicants who lack documents, the SUPP Kuching Branch volunteer team will also be on site to help prepare and issue the necessary verification letters, so that applicants can complete their applications immediately.

SUPP Kuching Branch hopes that through this second night service counter, the coverage of assistance can be expanded, and the ability of the community, especially students, to access public resources can be improved.

The branch is committed to ensuring that those who are truly in need will receive the right assistance and guidance at the right time.
