Pujut State Assemblyman, Adam Yii hands over MRP funding
Pujut State Assemblyman, Adam Yii handed the small rural project (MRP) grant ceremony at its branch Service Center.
A total of RM46,000 was awarded to 16 associations, religious and educational organizations.
These grants will be used to support the day-to-day operations and community services of each organization to further promote the development of local society.
Yii said at the ceremony that Miri’s vision is to develop into a green, smart and livable international tourist city.
He emphasized the importance of urban greening in combating climate change noting that human activities have caused serious damage to the earth, leading to increased climate change.
Urging the public to reduce the use of plastic and jointly protect the environment, he said that plastic pollution poses a huge potential threat to the ecosystem and human health.
“Miri City must strengthen greening work to reduce damage to the global environment. I hope everyone can do their part and contribute to environmental protection,” he said.
Miri, he added is developing towards a smart city and Yii introduced the electronic measures implemented by the Urban Council in recent years, including electronic receipts and electronic parking payments.
He said that although citizens may not be used to it at the beginning, in the long run, these measures will greatly improve the convenience of life.
He added that the development of smart cities is irreversible and the Municipal Council will continue to promote electronic services to facilitate citizens’ daily lives.
