State Assemblyman Batu Kitang, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang at the funeral of a murdered victim in Kampung Haji Baki

Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, Dato IR Lo Khere Chiang expressed dismay that a killing occurred on Monday night in Kpg Haji Baki.

Lo went to attend the funeral of a 55-year-old man who was stabbed to death by his nephew said he was overwhelmed with sadness when he saw the sister(suspect’s mother) of the deceased crying.

In just one moment of crime of passion, this woman lost his entire family, he said.

“I felt very helpless when the suspect’s mother cried and there were no words to comfort her at that moment. I am lost for words,” he added.

Lo said it is an open secret that drugs have been distributed in all the four corners of Sarawak and this menace needs to be curbed.

“I do not want to pinpoint any finger at whose fault it is. But it is high time we all step in with concerted effort to deal with this drug menace. The police is the first authority to tackle it but in Padawan district, there are only two patrolling vehicles to do patrolling for such a big area from Padawan to Telaga Air . Besides, Padawan police is shockingly lacking in manpower. So how do you tackle a big problem with no manpower and not enough vehicles? Something must be done fast before more lives are destroyed by drugs,” he said.

Lo said the Federal government is not fair to Sarawak. There should be enough police manpower to handle each district considering the fact that Sarawak is such a big area.

He suggested that GPS government can make use of the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS) to compliment the Federal Government authority to curb the drug menace before things get worse.

All Children must be given a chance to go to schools to prevent them from going to the wrong path of drugs.
