Promotion in supermarkets to help the poor
The cost of living continues to rise and people are living in hardship, said Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting.
Ting hoped that through charity promotions, more families in need can have their burden reduced.
This month, Ting said that he held two sales promotion and two last month. This month the promotion was held at Wong Sun Hup Supermarket and Metro Supermarket.
Ting who was at the supermarket said this morning to inspect the charity promotion activities added that a nber of items have discounts ranging from 10% to 30%.
He pointed out that he will continue to work with traders to help implement more promotional activities that are beneficial to people. The promotion was part of the Federal government effort to help the needy cope with escalating cost during festive season.
More supermarket operators should respond to charity promotions, fulfill social corporate responsibilities together, contribute to society, and help alleviate the burden of more families in need, he added.
The products on sale are all necessities, including eggs, fragrant rice, rice noodles, milk, flour, economical dry noodles, instant noodles, toilet paper, green onions, cooking oil, soda crackers and soft drinks.
