Adopt an environmental friendly attitude, says Mayor Miri Adam Yii
Riam Landscaper Teamfrom from SMK Riam Miri emerged the champion with first funner up Jingle Bells Team from Kolej Vokasional Miri and third, F5 Rudolf Team from Kolej Vokasional Miri in the Christmas tree sculpture design competition using recycled materials.
Officiating the prize Presentation Ceremony, Miri Mayor Adam Yii who is also Pujut State assemblyman called to the public to adopt the 5Rs’ rethink, reduce, reinvent, recycle and refuse practices forenvironmental sustainability.
He said through such, they can significantly impact the environment and community by rethinking, reducing, reinventing, recycling, and refusingunnecessary waste and therefore.
Yii said it is the responsibility of everyone to keep the environment clean and only by doing so, we can achieve a cleaner, greener future.
The event was organised by Miri Municipal Council(MCC) and the competition designed for secondary school participation was held at the Public Library’s parking compound at Jalan Raja.
Yii said the competition will encourage secondary schools students to be actively involved in keeping the environment clean.
He believed through the competition, students willbe able to acquire knowledge on the environmental consequences of their actions.
The winners received cash prizes,trophies, medals, and certificates of participation each.
