SUPP concern that PM calls Dong Zong racist

SUPP shares the grave concern, disappointment and disbelief of the majority of the Malaysian Chinese with the statement by our Prime Minister by calling and referring an educationist group Dong Zong as being racists when they were merely pointing out their concerns and ground feedbacks on the teaching of Khat or Jawi in Chinese Primary Schools next year 2020, said SUPP sec gen, Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Ting who is also Piasau Assemblyman said with the new PH government after PRU14 last year 2019,  Malaysians as a whole, then were looking forward to a new Malaysia with new hopes and expectations as contained in the PH manifestos. The manifestos were so convincing and wonderful and indeed touched the hearts and minds of the majority of Malaysians were with PH and thus voted for PH government, especially the 95% Chinese.

“All these years, Dong Zong is a body that has been respected for upholding Chinese education and doing their best for Malaysian students in many ways, thus, they are naturally worried of Khat being a compulsory subject for the students in Chinese Primary schools.    With the new hopes and expectations of new PH Government, the calling of names by Prime Minister hurt the hearts and minds of the majority of Chinese and majority of the people of Sarawak.

They do not expect our Prime Minister to do so as they were expecting our Prime Minister as a second time as Prime Minister of our country to be different from his first time 22 years Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003, “he added.

The PH, especially DAP leaders, both in Malaya and Sarawak, Ting stated, have failed the majority of the Chinese both in Peninsula Malaya and Sarawak

Indeed, our Prime Minister had previously said and reiterated especially before, during and immediately after PRU14, that he would be a Prime Minister for all Malaysians.  Furthe more our Prime Minister, had said so many times in the past that anyone was free to critisize him. Being a leader of any country, he said that they would not free of constructive criticisms and in this case, Dong Zong is pointing out some glaring wrong policies implemented by inexperience Education Minister. So Prime Minister should not be so upset that  it triggered him to call names to those who did not agree with him.

“As a Prime Minister for all Malaysians, his primary  duty should be to unite all races with different religions, cultures and customs. Malaysians would expect our Prime Minister and his Cabinet Ministers to focus their energies to improve the most important thing, our economy, that is bread and butter on the table. As for our Minister of Education, please help to prepare and equip our children well, starting from Primary Schools, with modern knowledge such as computer programs and coding. Our children will benefit tremendously and who knows, some of them may turn out to geniuses even at a very young age, ” he said.

Ting called to Education Minister to venture out to seek for information on mental arithmetic, taught in private tuition centres and neighbouring countries, and how this can also greatly benefit our children.

” If you do so, the public perception and opinion of the parents of these children on the Education Minister might improve, instead of remembering you as Minister for black shoes and swimming lessons in hotel swimming pools and now this, the introduction or implementing jawi or khat in Chinese Primary schools.SUPP sincerely hopes and prays that there will be no more names calling on any organization or individuals, as we should be living in peace and harmony and that there must be total respect for each other, irrespective of race, religion and culture as we always proudly proclaim to have Unity in Diversity, “he stated.

Lastly, Ting hoped that Prime Minister, Education Minister and DAP leaders, especially those from Sarawak, make good their promises as pledged in your PRU14 manifestos.

” Sarawakians are anxiously waiting”, he said.
