Tan Kai explains
Political Secretary to Chief Minister of Sarawak Mr Tan Kai issue a press statement that the law of dog microchip has been gazetted by Sarawak Government since 24th October 2018.
Under Local Authorities Dog Licensing and Control By Law 2018, Clause 4 (4) stated that “ The local authority may also require that a dog be implanted with any form of electronic identification and data storage device “.
With the existence of the above clause, we need not to table another separate bill on dog microchipping alone.
He was replying to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who urged the state government to expedite the tabling of a bill in the State Assembly to enable the monitoring of dog ownership through microchip implants.
