Michael Tiang: Those using fake certificate has no integrity

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) strongly disapproves the practice by politicians’ attempts to elevate their status by using fake degree or fake certificates. SUPP urges the current cabinet members who has involved in such act to resign from their portfolio.
Political Secretary to the CM, Michael Tiang described it as a very serious bankruptcy of integrity. “We don’t care whether a leader graduates from a university or be a professional or not. A certificate from university or college is not the only criterion for assessing whether a leader can really serve the people, as long as he or she shows the ability to serve by bringing progress and development to the community and nation, then we can all accept and regard that person as a good leader.”
However, if they deliberately and knowingly involve in falsification of their academic qualifications in order to gain acknowledgement or to seek higher positions in public offices, then it’s an act of deceiving the government and the people, which would definitely affect the image of our government.
In view of fake-degree scandal involves several of Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal or state cabinet members one after another, we appeal to the Prime Minister Tun Mahathir to immediately verify the integrity of all existing cabinet members. Those who have found to have cheated or previously claimed themselves as professional in certain fields but actually not, should leave their position for criminal investigation. If they are convicted, they should not be a part in the cabinet to avoid Malaysia’s integrity being tarnished at international level.
We hope that the Chairman of DAP Sarawak cum Chairman of Sarawak PH, YB Chong Chieng Jen together with other members of parliament from Sarawak PH, would immediately propose to Prime Minister to take stern actions against the cabinet members concerned, in order to avoid the integrity of our nation being trampled by deliberate and guilty acts of such irresponsible cabinet members.
