Saving the macaques
With intervention from Piasau State Assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting saved two macaques to be housed at Piasau Nature Park for the moment.
Ting thanked and congratulated SFC team for their quick action taken today whose team arrived at the house around 3pm today.
The two long-tailed macaques, a protected species, have been found to be illegally kept as pets and under harsh conditions in a house in Jalan Lawas housing estate.
However, complaints were made and it was alleged that the authority concerned refused to take action with many feeble excuses.
Ting and Mayor Miri, Adam Yii were contacted for assistance into the case.
