Lo Khere Chiang ask Chong Chieng Jen not to over-react
Padawan Municipal council Chairman, Lo Khere Chiang scolded MP Stampin, Chong Chieng Jen for blaming his council Council and JKR Sarawak for uncut grass along federal roads without checking the facts stating that Chong did not act like a deputy minister but instead throw tantrums and fits over the uncut grass.
Lo said Chong needs to know who the implementing and monitoring agency is, as there are different government agencies responsible to look after respective services. The MPP, he said, is not responsible for everything. Neither can the council move in to undertake the services of other monitoring government agencies.
MPP, he added, cannot simply dispense its council’s fund to carry out works that do not come under its responsibilities as we are subject to audit queries and the public accounts committee, PAC.
“As a responsible Parliamentarian and a federal deputy minister, YB Chong should do his own homework and find out whether the federal government has allocated money for grass cutting along federal protocol roads? Is the sum allocated sufficient to do the job? Chong has complete access to JKR Malaysia and he should have known that there are no allocations as far back as November and December 2018. As a responsible politician and being part of the federal cabinet, he must find out what went wrong and fix it so that the implementing agency can have the money to do its job,” he said.
Chong ought to know and be conversant of government procedures and more so because he is the government now.
