Making Kuching a beautiful city

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he wants Kuching to be the most beautiful city in Malaysia following words of encouragement from the Prime  Minister’s visit last month.

Speaking at the Kuching City Pearl Jubilee celebration, Abang Johari said Kuching has undergone a lot of development and changes for the better and Sarawak government does not mind spending money to make Kuching a vibrant, clean and healthy city.

For the leader of the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government was impressed by the city is a bench mark for us that we have done something right.

He also said he would like the Heritage Trail , from Kuching Waterfront to Brooke Dockyard and Padungan, to be developed further as a tourist attraction including the Malay village and where Fort Margherita is located.

Kuching Waterfront area will be boosted as a tourism spot with the musical fountain, just like the ones at Marina Bay in Singapore.

During his time as state’s Tourism Minister, the Chief Minister said he would get feedback from tourists that Kuching was well-planned and clean. A lot of improvement depends on the Local Authorities, he said.

Among those present at the celebration to commemorate City Day as well as the opening of the annual Kuching Festival were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and other dignitaries.
