​Candidate for  Stampin, Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian who is also the Minister for Local government and Housing, said the state Barisan Nasional (BN) dares to say ‘no’ to BN bigwig Umno because Sarawak’s interest comes first​.

​The​ state BN will always protect Sarawak’s rights as the state coalition has always been firm in the stand against BN bigwig Umno if it concerns the interest of the state.

He said the ​Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (RUU355) is a good example, saying that “when a Private Member’s Bill to amend RUU355 was presented to the Parliament in November 2016 by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, ​we in the state BN strongly objected to the Bill​.

​The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister meeting BN Sarawak (MPs) multiple times and we still say ​no.

Dr Sim added that ​out that the state BN’s firm stance in protecting the state was very much unlike the Opposition, particularly DAP, which has yet to prove that they will protect Sarawak’s rights.
