Dr Sim on SUPP Sibu branch
Since the announcement made by Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh declaring that he had left SUPP Sibu Branch to join Parti TERAS on 15th May, 2014, many SUPP leaders and members of the Sibu Branch have called me and Party Headquarters in Kuching to express their anguish over the abrupt departure of their former Branch Chairman. These members have conveyed their loyal support to SUPP, the oldest political party in the State; they do not wish to see a vacuum situation taking place in SUPP Sibu. These members wanted to see SUPP fully functional in terms of the Party’s normal operations and services to the people of Sibu continue unabated.
In light of the present circumstances with the SUPP Sibu Branch, the Party Central Secretariat has decided that rather than leaving the SUPP Sibu Branch without a proper leader to be in charge, Vice Chairman of the SUPP Sibu Branch, Comrade Chieng Buong Toon Membership No SBU-04496) is hereby appointed to lead the remaining branch committee members and tasked to supervise the Branch’s party affairs with immediate effect for the benefit of party members and Rakyat. Comrade Chieng Buong Toon is authorised to take possession of all property and effects belonging to the SUPP Sibu Branch as well as to convene meetings and to make related decisions pertaining to the SUPP Sibu Branch business and activities together with the remaining SUPP Sibu branch committee members.
As directed by Central Working Committee of the Party, Comrade Chieng Buong Toon is hereby appointed by Party Central as the Protem Committee Chairman to organise a Committee to facilitate the formation of SUPP Bukit Assek Branch as soon as possible. The Central Secretariat wishes to appeal to all loyal members of the Party in Sibu and the Central Region to strongly rally behind the SUPP Sibu Branch as well as to give support to the Bukit Assek Protem Committee as the way forward to ensure that Sibu and the Central Region remain the strong bastion of SUPP as envisaged by our Party’s respected founders in 1959.
