Foo on party unity

SUPP member Milton Foo, who spoke on a personal basis, said leaders of the party from both sides should stop lashing out at each other on issues relating to party affair and party election. The majority of the people are getting fed up while the younger party members are even feeling disgusted with the endless accusations and exchanges.
He said SUPP being one of the ruling parties, should focus on issues that affect the livelihood of the Rakyat. Be daring to speak out for the Rakyat and fight for people’s interests. This is to uphold the noble course laid by our party’s founders – which is to participate in the politics/government for the people and for a fairer and just society.
“Please stop making statements that cause irreparable harm to our own party comrades and the party. Be more vocal on corrupt practices and poor performance of government agencies, be daring enough to say no and stand against policies or laws that are not in favour of or go against the interests of the people,” he said in a press conference held on Tuesday. He observed that one side tends to make more noise than the other.
We, he added, the new generation of SUPP, are sick and disdained of the acts by certain party leaders. People vote SUPP to serve them wholeheartedly without fear and favour, not to make statements over the party’s affairs and factions. We owe it to the people an explanation if we keep on with our internal fighting.
Foo urged and appealed to all party members to stay united and continue to play the role of check and balance within the government; to speak with courage for the people, stand against any bad policy and rectify its internal deviation in order to attain and preserve equality of rights of all races in the country.
