SUPP youth on Hudud

SUPP Central Youth is shocked by the revelation of PAS President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang that Pakatan Rakyat leadership council had agreed to the implementation of hudud in Kelantan. Despite the seriousness and gravity of the situation the DAP, through their Secretary-Genenal Lim Guan Eng, made a bare denial that “Abdul Hadi has made an unfortunate mistake and a wrong statement.”

His tepid attitude is a clear evidence that DAP does not take this issue seriously and the lame statement without action in effect proves very clearly DAP have not been sincere with the Chinese, Indian and non-Muslims who gave DAP the majority of their votes. It further shows that DAP cannot be relied upon to uphold their rights within the context of the Federal Constitution.

Clearly, DAP is only interested in realizing their political agendas and they are willing to do whatever it takes. Knowing the potential risks and the consequences DAP insisted to align with PAS and campaigned for PAS’s candidates, defended their Hudud agenda as ‘harmless to non-Muslims as long as one does not break the laws’ during elections.

SUPP Central Youth Central Secretary-General Wilfred Yap pointed out that PAS’s decision to table a Bill to allow the Kelantan State Government to implement Hudud laws clearly shows that the DAP is merely all talk with no action (NATO) as DAP has failed miserably to uphold the rights of minorities in a multi-cultural, multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia.

The strong opposition by Keadilan Youth Movement against DAP for asking PAS to leave Pakatan Rakyat on the Hudud issue is yet another evidence of the ineffectiveness and inability of DAP to have their voice heard in Pakatan Rakyat, let alone to have any substantial influence within the alliance.

SUPP Central Youth Central Secretary General Wilfred Yap is of the opinion that the DAP should do the right thing by pulling out from Pakatan Rakyat to prove their sincerity and accountability to the Chinese, Indian and non-Muslim communities and also to prove that DAP is not a “toothless tiger” or “Pak Turut” within Pakatan Rakyat. The DAP should not continue to betray the trust of the voters who placed their hope on them with such lame statements and bare denial on the Hudud issue, something which can change and turn the society landscape of our country completely around in the future.
