Sarawak United Peoples’ Party leaders expressed their appreciation for Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak stand behind them in time of crisis and challenges.Najib recently said in an interview during the UMNO general assembly that as a leading party, it is their part to strengthen their ” friends”, referring to BN component parties who are facing internal problems. He said these parties need to set their house in order for them to gain support from the people and when this is achieved, it will strengthen the BN as a whole. He also added that policies made by the BN are not to be forced on the component parties but instead reached through a consensus.

The PM, who is against any form of extremism which could destroy the country, wants to be a PM to all races and religions and vows to take care of everyone.

President of the party Tan Sri Peter Chin has mentioned repeatedly that he views the wisdom of the PM seriously and believes that SUPP squabbles would soon be a thing of the past. He for one is all for the party leaders to come together and work to fight the enemies of BN.

Secretary General of SUPP, Dr. Sim Kui Hian, echoed his President’s thoughts and said Malaysia needs a moderate leader like Najib to advance and be on par with other countries.

He said  SUPP is taking seriously on working towards a unified party. He said Najib has already proven to be a leader for all Malaysian who is not only moderate at home but also internationally. “He does extremely well at home and thus he can get recognition from other countries. The party has always view him as a fair and just leader,” he added.

Believing that hardcore extremism would not survive in Malaysia, Sim pointed out that Malaysia needs to be a country of tolerance and the majority of the people would want that so that the country can advance and move forward.

On the party’s unity plan, Sim said despite all the political posturing, he believes that everyone has a common objective of moving forward to see better days.

“I believe the issue would be resolved soon,” he added.
