Dato’ Sebastian: (11th) Walk in the Park at Piasau Camp
SUPP Publicity Chief, Dato’ Sebastian Ting said today is the 11th Walk in the Park at Piasau Camp where over 500 people, including family members from grandfather to their grandchildren, took part.
Calling it a great support from the Miri community, Ting said the Mirians had regarded the Piasau Camp Nature Park as a sense of belonging to them. He said first timers and the children were very excited seeing two hornbills on their walk.
He said as what had been reported earlier, the TYT Pehin Sri Datuk Patinggi Abdul Taib Mahmud and the new CM would do a ground breaking to launch the Piasau Camp Nature Park on 10th May 2014 morning at Piasau camp.
Ting, who is also the Piasau Camp Miri Nature Park Society President, said on behalf of the Committee Members, members and the Miri public would like to say “Thank you” to the Sarawak Government, TYT and CM for approving the gazetting of this area into a permanent green park for the people of Miri.
He said the Committee would like to give thanks to Shell and Petronas, Malaysia Nature Society Miri Branch and most important of all, the Miri communities and the expatriate friends who have been very supportive since the first Walk on 5th January 2013.
He urged all to join the historical event on the 10th May 2014 at 9.30am at Piasau camp Miri as the Park belonged to all Mirians.
On another matter, Ting said his thoughts and prayers are with Karpal Singh’s family. Extending his heartfelt condolence to them, he said Malaysia missed a big man who has been a classic example of his stand against Hudud law. Ting said not once did Karpal wavered on the issue.
Ting also added that families of MH 370 and those who are missing in the Korean Ferry tragedy will be remembered in our prayers.
