SUPP Pelawan Branch secretary cum Pelawan potential candidate, Michael Tiang was invited to officiate the opening for Sibu Division Junior Wushu Competition today.

During the speech, Tiang said sports is an essential ingredient to children education. While parents’ commitment and support for their children in sports are essential to junior sports development.

He spoke in the capacity of a parent as he shared with the attendees that he has 2 children who started to undergo professional tennis training at the ages of 7 and 8. He said, as a parent he saw 3 main benefits of supporting children in sports, namely:

1. With commitment in sports, the children stay away from electronics products. They prefer to go outdoor to do sports and to make friends.

2. In sports, children learn about discipline, team work and the attitude management on win or loss in games

3. Both academic and sports developments are balance. They never feel boring during school breaks as they always have holiday trainings too.

Lastly Tiang complimented Kelab Wushu Permai Timur for their persistent efforts in preserving Chinese wushu culture and sports.
