沈桂贤：权力下放需达致目标
砂人联党主席拿督沈桂贤上议员希望砂拉越争取权力下放的过程，必须持续进行，以免砂人民产生不满情绪。 他说，倘若争取权力下放无法达致目标，砂拉越无法保证可以在来临的全国大选，成为国阵的“定存州”，为国阵带来更多议席。 他于今日在国会上议院参与辩论时指出，过去53年来，砂拉越仍处于落后之中。 “砂拉越人并非要求重新制订1963年马来西亚协议，而是要求落实当初已经制定的协议。” 沈桂贤表示，砂人民希望更多发展拨款注入，包括石油与天然气开采税提高和发展基建设施等，而基建设施不仅仅是兴建泛婆大道，还包括快速列车，如吉隆坡通往新加坡那样。 他说，砂人民也希望在政府部门获得更多升迁机会，担任重要职位，比如部门秘书长。
