Launch of the SUPP News Portal
Kuching: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Publicity Chief, Dato’ Sebastian Ting introduced the SUPP News Portal (www.suppnewsportal.com) to the Central Committee (CC) members today.
Seventy-two of the CC members out of the 111 members attended the 4th meeting of the 24th SUPP Central Committee where during the lunch break, the SUPP News Portal was launched jointly by President Tan Sri Peter Chin, Deputy Minister, Dato’ Sri Richard Riot, Secretary General, Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Treasurer Datuk David Teng and Ting himself.
Introducing the News Portal, Ting said in the current development of online exposure, news portal is the way forward to publicise the party even though the party itself has a website.
He said the News Portal aimed to be more with current, vibrant, and more interactive with the participation of all of the members.
Ting said SUPP should follow current developments in the media world today – all mainstream news papers (e.g. Straits Times, Star, and Utusan) have moved online, and their readership is expanding.
He cited an example where in the last general election, there was not enough publicity in both printed and alternative media to the people and to its own members too.
Asking the Youth and Women section to play an active role in the News Portal, Ting said it was to let the public know what the party stand for.
“We would like party branches to forward to HQ all its activities – let it be meetings, walkabout, meeting the public, organised functions, assistance given to public and members – and we will include these into the news portal,” he added.
