Distribution of Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway Contract

Sarawak United People’s Party and the people of Sarawak are grateful to our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for committing towards the construction of the long awaited 1,090km Pan Borneo Sarawak Highway .

This much needed and important highway will spur more economic development and also increase social development activities in Sarawak.

However, we strongly urge the Federal Government to significantly increase the participation of Sarawakian companies and contractors in this project.

An increase in local participation is logical. Our local companies and contractors have the skills, competencies, experience and the financial resources to implement and complete this highway project.

Additionally, by awarding the highway construction projects to Sarawakian companies means the profits and income will be retained in Sarawak and add to the economic enhancement of Sarawak.

We, in SUPP will continue to work hard and convince the Federal government to ensure that the contracts should be awarded and reserved for Sarawakians of all races.

SUPP has already highlighted this on several occasions and have brought this important matter up with the state government as well.

Our aim is always to make sure Sarawakians have an equitable stake in its own growth and future.
