UPP misleading the People
Statement issued by Publicity Chief of SUPP, Adam Yii
UPP’s continued claims that they are a part of the Barisan National are highly misleading. Their insistent claims they are a part of the Barisan National is a ploy to split the existing cooperation between the component parties in Sarawak BN.
The leaders of the Barisan National all work well together to maintain the spirit of the alliance “one for all and all for one”.
The BN Supreme Council has never discussed UPP’s status as BN plus and therefore they are not relevant to the BN family. All attempts to declare themselves as BN are purely “self-declared”.
The claim that Prime Minister Najib and Chief Minister Adenan have approved UPP’s status as BN plus is inaccurate and designed to confuse the public and sow discord within the BN. The public are urged not to be taken in by the antics of UPP. Their ultimate aim is to split the BN so that they can take advantage.
The BN alliance and the spirit under which it was formed has served all well. This principle has held the component parties together and UPP will not be able to breach this principle. Several component parties have collectively and openly rejected UPP and TERAS as BN members.
SUPP further reemphasises that all the 19 seats and any new seats allocated will be contested by SUPP nominated candidates. UPP is also misleading the public and giving them the wrong impression that the CM had endorsed Datuk Tiong Thai King as the Dudong candidate.
Although UPP have four DUN representatives who were originally SUPP, these are SUPP seats. SUPP will field their own candidates there under the BN flag at the next election.
YB Datuk Francis Hardin Hollis (Simanggang) and YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin (Senadin) have been confirmed as the SUPP nominated candidates in their respective constituencies
In addition to this, SUPP Engkilili Branch has submitted five suitable candidates to our Party HQ. They are now working as a team and doing well and can take over from UPP assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa.
SUPP has many suitably qualified and winnable candidates who can represent SUPP and BN in all its 19 current constituencies.
UPP has no right and no need to question SUPP about its list of candidates. UPP does not have any right within BN to declare any SUPP allocated constituency as theirs.
UPP can field candidates in all 71 constituencies under their own UPP logo if they so desire.
The Barisan National Alliance has withstood the test of time and we believe that SUPP shall prevail in securing all its rightfully allocated constituencies.
We strongly believe that the hidden agenda of UPP to divide the Barisan National will fail.
