1st Asian-Pacific Parliamentarians Forum on Global Health
Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian is honoured and privileged to represent the country on behalf of the Senate of Malaysia Parliament in the 1st Asian-Pacific (Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos) Parliamentarians Forum on Global Health in Seoul on 2nd July.
Many of the national representatives in this Forum are medical doctors.
This forum for parliamentarians is very timely as it provides invaluable insights and highlight the key lessons in global health security, particularly within the context of MERS from the parliamentarian point of view.
It will be an annual event with the World Health Organisation (Western Pacific Office) as its Secretariat.
Parliamentarians play a fundamental role in developing health policy, passing health legislation, passing health budget as well as overseeing its implementation.
