SUPP Public Complaint Bureau Press Release (17 March)

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau was recently approached by a group of residents near 17th Mile, Penrissen Road, Siburan who were unhappy with the blocking of a back lane through the building of a fence by a resident owning both the Corner Terrace and a Semi-detached house. The purpose of the fence was to link both Corner Terrace and a Semi-detached houses and to create a bigger garden.

From enquiries carried out by SUPP PCB Chief, Cr Wilfred Yap who is also a Councillor of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), it was discovered that the enforcement team of MPP had already issued a notice to the resident concerned to demolish the fence built by him to block the back lane.

However, not being satisfied with the explanation given, SUPP Public Complaints Bureau Chief, Cr Wilfred Yap requested for the enforcement team to visit the site of the problem together with him to better assess the problem faced by the complainants who requested not to be named. It was also discovered that the blocking of the back lane would also prevent easy access to the fire hydrant from the back of the houses in the unlikely event of a fire and harmful to the neighborhood.

Wilfred Yap promised the complainants that he would reiterate this issue/matter during the next Council’s Works, Traffic And Building Control Standing Committee Meeting and during the next full council meeting to have this matter resolved  soonest as the blocking of the back lane is a breach of existing use of land and an encroachment into council land.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau is always ready to lend a helping hand to the anyone facing  problems or who come across problems of public interest but does not know how to deal with it.
